Whether you’re a frequent visitor, a vendor at a local flea market, or hosting your own garage sale, you have probably noticed the abundance of tarps being utilized to protect products and provide shelter to vendors from the harsh affects of the sun and/or rain. Since tarps are so easy to fold, pack, and go, many vendors have started purchasing them for their functionality and wide-range of purposes. Of course there are different types of tarps that can be purchased for these specific needs; however, the most popular among them would be the fire retardant tarps.
For those who don’t know, a tarp can be classified as fire retardant after it has gone through a series of detailed and organized testing to make sure the materials serve flame-resistant purposes. In order to receive a stamp of approval, the tarp must past every portion of the inspection. Since the term “fire retardant” leaves people to believe that they are protected from something that can prove to be life threatening, the government wants to make sure that buyers are getting what they pay for. In essence, if you rely on the heavy-duty tarps to save your life- you want it to really work.
Fire retardant tarps are widely used at functions in where there is going to be a large crowd of people. At community functions such as firework displays in the parks, you will notice the vendors using heavy duty white tarps around their canopy in case of an emergency. At flea markets, vendors that incorporate grills and other heated equipment will use them as a precaution should something go wrong.
Whenever there is a possible chance of a fire you will find heavy duty tarps being used. There are a lot of work places and/or job sites that utilize highly flammable materials that need protection. Whereas a traditional canvas tarp would not protect valuables or people in the event of an explosion or fire, some companies require the use of fire retardant tarps.
Fire retardant tarps of course will give you the same protection you want with other tarps; such as protection of belongings, shelter from the weather, and more. Many flea market vendors will attach a few tarps to their canopy to create a sheltered tent look. This is usually to protect them from the sun and/or rain while they are standing out all day. Some will even display their products on the tarp if they want to place them on the ground without getting dirty.
If you were thinking about having a yard sale, or vending at a local flea market, you may want to consider purchasing some heavy-duty white tarps. This will draw attention to your immediate area, and will also protect you, the customer, and your belongings during unforeseen weather conditions. With the added benefit of being highly functional and easy to set-up and clean up, it’s likely that the rave about the latest fire retardant tarps is not going to change in this industry for a long time to come.
