You may think that the only use for a tarp would be to cover valuables while doing construction or painting; however your thoughts are not true. Tarps, especially canvas tarps can be used for far more than that. Many will use the tarp to protect their vehicles from weather conditions such as rain or extreme heat. Tarps are also widely used by professionals for things such as emergency responses. Firemen and policemen tend to use tarps in the event that they have to haul something or someone who is unable to do it themselves. Canvas is a very durable material and can withstand a lot of weight as well as weather conditions. Tarps have a wide-range of purposes that can be useful to all.
Canvas tarps come in a variety of different colors; however, one of the most commonly used colors is military green. Since tarps are impeccable for outdoor use, the natural color helped to camouflage the vehicles so that they blend into the surroundings instead of sticking out like a sore thumb. Since the materials used in the tarp are natural and hypoallergenic, many people prefer to use canvas tarps when protecting their belongings in order to avoid triggering allergies of users. This is especially important to those who use tarps for camping trips and other outdoor activities.
When you’re thinking of protecting large vehicles such as your car or an RV, you will find that purchasing canvas tarps are the way to go. The canvas material properly protects most vehicles as long as you make sure to cover the vehicle correctly and secure the tarp properly. If you have a racecar or a RV that you only use for recreational purposes, then a tarp can protect the body of your vehicle when it has been sitting outdoors for an extended period of time. It allows for your vehicles to stay stored for several months at a time, yet get the protection from water and UV ray damage it needs. A tarp will provide you with the peace of mind you need to get through the winter and/or summer months by protecting the outer appearance of the car and making it easier to maintain.
Of course vehicles are not the only possessions that you need protection for. You will find that just about any object that you are trying to protect from the harsh elements of the weather can benefit from having canvas tarps. Some additional examples of household items that could benefit from tarp protection might be your grill, your outdoor patio furniture, your swimming pool, your bicycle, and much more. Properly securing all of your outdoor personal belongings with canvas tarp will save you money and time throughout the years.
Make sure that when purchasing canvas tarps that you pay attention to the added protection features that it carries. If you are looking to protect things outdoors, you want to make sure your tarp has water and UV resistant features. If you have never used a tarp before, you may want to ask a representative about factors such as materials, warranties, features, sizes, and more to make sure that you have chosen the tarp that is best suited for your needs!

Tarpcoversales.com Expand Product Line for Possible 2012 Natural Disaster
For the past decade, everyone has been talking about their rendition of how the world will ultimately end. Some believe there will be a zombie apocalypse, while others believe the world will crumble much like the move 2012. Whatever the methods, in the past year or so, people have begun to prepare themselves for what they believe will be the end all disaster. While some believe it is a myth there are thousands that believe in some form it is true, and that the end of this year, something extreme will happen to change the lives of everyone who survives it. Regardless, companies are taking a role by creating or expanding their line of preventative and protection gear. Many consumers are purchasing a snow fence and drain tarps as a way to protect their homes from Mother Nature’s nasty wrath.
You may be wondering what a snow fence is. A properly working snow fence is typically made of vinyl, and was created for the sole purpose of controlling snow that begins to blow and drift in your direction. When you are looking to buy a snow fence you should be sure that it is heavy-duty, can withstand winds that are up to100 miles per hour, and it should also be able to trap quite a few tons of snow. Finding a sufficient snow fence does not have to be a hard task, as you can search online for the best and most reliable company to purchase from. You will find that there are not many color preferences when searching for a snow fence, as most are a bright orange or green color and range in length between 48-100 feet long. This means you should have no problem purchasing a fence that will cover and protect the entire perimeter of your home.
Another product that has become very popular as people prepare for the unknown is drain tarps, also known as leak diverter tarps. Drain tarps, even prior to the scare of the end of the world, were labeled as being a “must have” in every home emergency kit. Drain tarps are very easy to install when danger strikes and they can collect water from leaking areas and transfer it away with a hose attachment. This will help control where the excess water goes and keeps your house from being drenched. It will also protect your personal belongings from any possible water damage.
There may be some that read this and think, “Nothing is going to happen.” However, you should remember that in most natural disasters those who neglect preparation are the ones with the most loss. When you think about it, you should always have a worst-case scenario attitude for this is the only way that you will truly do what it takes to prepare. Now say for some chance that 2013 comes without a hitch, at least you can say you were prepared. It is always better to equip yourself and not need it, than to need it and not be fully equipped. Talk to a representative online or at your local hardware store about where you can find the best drain tarps and snow fence before it’s too late.

Fire Retardant Tarps Are A Must-Have Item in Flea Market Industries
Whether you’re a frequent visitor, a vendor at a local flea market, or hosting your own garage sale, you have probably noticed the abundance of tarps being utilized to protect products and provide shelter to vendors from the harsh affects of the sun and/or rain. Since tarps are so easy to fold, pack, and go, many vendors have started purchasing them for their functionality and wide-range of purposes. Of course there are different types of tarps that can be purchased for these specific needs; however, the most popular among them would be the fire retardant tarps.
For those who don’t know, a tarp can be classified as fire retardant after it has gone through a series of detailed and organized testing to make sure the materials serve flame-resistant purposes. In order to receive a stamp of approval, the tarp must past every portion of the inspection. Since the term “fire retardant” leaves people to believe that they are protected from something that can prove to be life threatening, the government wants to make sure that buyers are getting what they pay for. In essence, if you rely on the heavy-duty tarps to save your life- you want it to really work.
Fire retardant tarps are widely used at functions in where there is going to be a large crowd of people. At community functions such as firework displays in the parks, you will notice the vendors using heavy duty white tarps around their canopy in case of an emergency. At flea markets, vendors that incorporate grills and other heated equipment will use them as a precaution should something go wrong.
Whenever there is a possible chance of a fire you will find heavy duty tarps being used. There are a lot of work places and/or job sites that utilize highly flammable materials that need protection. Whereas a traditional canvas tarp would not protect valuables or people in the event of an explosion or fire, some companies require the use of fire retardant tarps.
Fire retardant tarps of course will give you the same protection you want with other tarps; such as protection of belongings, shelter from the weather, and more. Many flea market vendors will attach a few tarps to their canopy to create a sheltered tent look. This is usually to protect them from the sun and/or rain while they are standing out all day. Some will even display their products on the tarp if they want to place them on the ground without getting dirty.
If you were thinking about having a yard sale, or vending at a local flea market, you may want to consider purchasing some heavy-duty white tarps. This will draw attention to your immediate area, and will also protect you, the customer, and your belongings during unforeseen weather conditions. With the added benefit of being highly functional and easy to set-up and clean up, it’s likely that the rave about the latest fire retardant tarps is not going to change in this industry for a long time to come.

Choosing Tarps for All Your Spontaneous Needs
We all have special valuables that we work very hard to receive. As owners of these precious items we strive to maintain their value through different methods of protection. When you’re going to paint a room in your home, you place a tarp over your furniture to prevent it from being damaged. When you park your car outside and there is no shade or garage for you to park in, you protect your car with automobile covers. Tarps and covers can serve many different purposes, and afford consumers the benefit of being able to protect their personal belongings from damage.
If you’ve never purchased any form of cover or tarp you should be sure to educate yourself on the different types as well as their uses before making a purchase. No matter what your need for a tarp is, you’re probably sure to find one that is large enough and durable enough to withstand whatever it is you’re trying to prevent. One of the more commonly used purposes for a cover is to protect the vehicle. The reason for this is because the harmful rays of the sun could cause damage to the paint which in turn tarnishes the outer appearance and overall value of the vehicle. Looking for the right auto covers can be as simple as a few steps.
When choosing the type of tarp you need for your home or business use you need to first determine where the tarp will be used. Are you looking to cover a construction area? Are you looking to protect furniture? Are you trying to protect a motor vehicle, boat, or some other item that will remain outside? Auto car covers can be in many different sizes, colors, and shapes to accommodate any vehicle or object that you’re trying to protect. The trick is, to find one that will cover your car entirely, and protect it from year round elements of the weather.
After you’ve determined the ideal use for your tarp or automobile covers you want to then consider the conditions in which you will have the cover subject to. If you’re in a climate that is usually hot year round you want to make sure that you get a tarp that is fire retardant and has the added UV ray protection you need. However, if you’re in a rainy climate you want a tarp that will protect your car from the rain.
A rule of thumb that you should always remember as you start shopping for your auto covers and tarps is that not all are created equally. Make sure that you check for durability as well as features. You don’t want to simply choose a tarp based on how much money you can save, you want one that will protect your investments as you expect. You can do some background research on the manufacturer or brand you’re looking to purchase to see what other consumers have had to say about the product and its quality. After having done research you are ready to purchase a tarp for all of your uses that will ultimately save you money by protecting the investments that you worked so hard to have.

Tips to Choose Heavy Duty Poly Tarps
Heavy duty poly tarps are made of multiple layers of polyethylene meshed between more polyethylene sheets. Thus, these are sturdy, durable and lightweight. Before purchasing heavy duty poly tarps, consider the following features:
- Thickness: As you know, the thicker the tarp, the heavier and stronger it is. Typically, lightweight poly tarps are found in 6 mil thickness (1 mil is 1/1000 of an inch). A heavy duty poly tarp would be 11 -12 mils in thickness and a super heavy duty poly tarp would be 23 or more mils.
- Size: This is an important consideration as the actual tarp size is different from the specified size. If they say 10 x 10, you may actually be getting 9 ft 6 inches of usable tarp. The rest is taken up in hemming the tarps at the borders. Since the hem is accounted for in the original measurement, the tarp that you can use will be somewhat smaller. There are no universal sizes. Check measurements when you buy heavy duty poly tarps.
- Fabric: Poly tarps are made of plastic. However, heavy duty and super heavy duty poly tarps may contain a layer of laminated polyethylene in the center. This is black in color and its purpose is to keep the sun’s rays away from the area that is being protected by the poly tarp.
- Mesh size: This refers to the number of threads per square inch of the tarp. So, an 8x8 mesh has 8 threads in an inch, both horizontally and vertically. Mesh size determines the strength of the tarp. Heavy duty tarps generally have large thread sizes like 12 to 16 threads per inch. Threads used may also be heavier.
- Grommets: These are metal hoops that are stitched into the sides of the tarp to hold attachments. You may have poly tarps with grommets at 18 inches to 36 inches apart. The nearer the grommets, the greater its tensile strength. Most high quality heavy duty poly tarps have grommets placed approximately 18 inches apart. While aluminum grommets are the most common, brass grommets are most durable.
- Reinforcements: This keeps the tarp strong as reinforcements add strength and durability to the tarp. There are different kinds of reinforcements like corner reinforcements, ropes, hemming and grommets. Very heavy duty poly tarps generally have a patch, or an additional reinforcement at the hem. This improves the strength of the grommet.
- Protection: Most heavy duty poly tarps are made to last. Thus they are waterproof, weather proof, flame retardant, mildew proof and UV treated. They also appear in several colors from silver grey to blue, green, brown, red, orange, yellow and clear.

Best Accessories for Tarps
Heavy duty ropes and bungee cords:
These are used to tie down the tarps. Just like the tarps, cords too have to be weather, rain and rust resistant. High quality ropes are available at competitive prices for use with tarp covers. These ropes are UV resistant and can withstand the onslaught of heavy winds. High quality tarp accessories are built to last, just as high quality tarps.
Tarp tie-downs are another must-have tarp accessory. These are used to secure tarps of all sizes and shapes to surfaces. High quality tie-downs help you tie tarps without any slack in them. Any slack can lead to tarps flapping about in the wind, ultimately tearing and snapping as the wind blows relentlessly. There are different types of tarp tie-downs and you can select those that are most convenient to you. The point is to secure tarps easily and with the minimum possible work.
Tarp clamps are nifty tarp accessories. These clamps allow you to secure your tarp anywhere without bungee cords or ropes. All you need for a custom fit are tarp clamps and the tarp. Insert the tarp material on the pole and insert the clamp over the pole. Since clamps enable you to secure the tarp material anywhere without any difficulty, these come in handy when you need to use tarps for a variety of applications.
Ratchet tie downs are great accessories if you want to use tarp covers to secure something safely over a surface. These tie-downs come in different sizes, so, use the one that best suits your application. You simply need to throw a tie-down over a cargo that has been covered with tarp and secure the tie-down by hooking it with the anchor point. Any slack should be pulled out so that the tie down fits snugly on the tarp.
Tarp gloves are convenient and useful as they can make the heavy duty work lighter on the hands. Gloves help you protect your hands while you do heavy manual work. Just like the tarps, high quality gloves are heat and tear resistant.
The above is a small list of tarp accessories. As you begin using tarps on all sorts of surfaces, you will start discovering many more useful accessories.
